Crimes: sexual exploitation of a child.
Summary
This California bill expands the crime of sexual exploitation of a child to include downloading, streaming, or accessing child sexual abuse material through electronic or digital media, and adds digitally altered and artificial-intelligence-generated depictions of minors engaged in sexual conduct to existing prohibitions. The bill applies to individuals who knowingly engage in these activities and modifies the definition of "sexual exploitation" used in mandatory child abuse reporting requirements to include AI-generated and digitally altered sexual material depicting children.
