California AI Transparency Act.
Summary
This bill amends California's AI Transparency Act to require companies that develop generative AI systems accessible to the public to include hidden digital markers (called "latent disclosures") in AI-generated or AI-modified content that identify whether the content was created or altered by artificial intelligence. The bill also requires these companies to provide a free tool that allows users to verify whether content was generated or modified by AI and to collect only minimal personal information from users of these verification tools. Additionally, the bill adds new exemptions for accessibility tools designed for disabled individuals and modifies several technical requirements and timelines for compliance.
